Japan Funds Healthcare Infrastructure in Cambodia
Japan’s Yen Loan project, signed on Mar. 13 in Cambodia, addresses the rising non-communicable disease burden. It offers low-interest, long-term loans for vital infrastructure. The healthcare gap between urban and rural areas in Cambodia persists. Most provincial hospitals lack resources for non-communicable diseases like cancer and heart conditions. The loan targets this disparity, upgrading rural hospitals like those in Siem Reap and Kampong Cham provinces. This aligns with Cambodia’s rural development plan. Both nations also pledge to collaborate on regional peace and prosperity. Japan commits to enhancing various sectors in Cambodia, including tourism and defense. Masahiro attends a heritage conservation meeting, showcasing international cooperation.
