Japan stocks rebound but global markets jittery after share price fall | BBC News

Stock markets in Europe remained unsettled on Tuesday despite a rebound in Japan which almost reversed record falls at the start of the week.

London’s FTSE 100, along with stock markets in Paris and Frankfurt, opened higher but soon slid back.

Overnight, Japan’s Nikkei 225 stock index jumped by 10.23%, or 3,217 points in its biggest one day gain in points, after the previous day’s plummet.

Focus has now shifted to US stock markets, which open in a few hours, after a couple of days of torrid trading.

The Nikkei’s 12% slump at the start of the week weighed on global stock markets. Sharp share price drops in UK, Europe, and US followed.

  1. the bubble is still affecting japan to this day, and will continue to affect japan for the foreseeable future. there’s no way an economy could explode so fast in the 80s and then crash AND then have no long term issues.

  2. If people want to be sell side analyst they ought to know what are real grounds for sell rating. Stuff like valuation based on fake end of the world balooney, over exagerated gold deposits etc.

  4. The reason you have to turn your comments off on the other videos is because a thousand times more people disagree with you than agree with you. The BBC have clearly made their decision on who to back and it isn't the British people. Understand BBC, your licence revenue come from the very people you are betraying. Do not be surprised if the amount of people paying for their TV licence drops once again. Soon, you will put yourself out of business. Even when this is all over, I will not forget the treachery that the BBC have displayed and I hope millions of others do the same.

  5. I will be eternally grateful to you, you have changed my entire life and I will continue to preach on your behalf for the whole world to hear how you saved me from huge financial debt with just a small investment, thank you Adalyn Christopher.

  6. BBC – 'Our propaganda and misinformation isn't working on the working class scum anymore. What else can we do?
I know…let's stop people having an opinion by turning off the comments!'

  7. Yeah there is a roller coaster but the downhill will go up slightly but a recession stick market crash will go on with a tiny duo up but it's going to go down more

  8. Have you noticed why the comments are always closed on their riot coverage? .. because the majority of comments always are in support .. BBC are so bias.
Keep producing content on over seas affairs.. may as well change the “British” is BBC to “Bias”

  9. As a public service broadcaster you should not be allowed to disable comments on your videos! As a tax payer that unfortunately funds you morons I have a right to voice my views on all of your trash videos!

  10. From my point of view, Japan's stock market had a big crash in 2024. Two main things caused it:

The Japanese yen got stronger fast. This hurt businesses that sell things to other countries. People got worried about a possible recession in the United States. This made investors scared, so they sold a lot of stocks.

  11. Dummies! If you lose 15% you need a 30% increase to equal out!😂 10%=a 5% bounce. Example for dummies; If you have 100 and lose 50 (50% loss) you now have 50 left over.you will need a 200% increase to get back to 100😂 many people think they only need a 50% bounce which is only 1/2.

  12. We have become certain that the President of America and some European countries are states controlled by Zionism, and that America helps Israel in its crimes because Israel is the one who appoints the American President to his position.

  13. BUDDHA…

“Bhikkhus, if one’s clothes or head were ablaze, what should be done about it?”

“Venerable sir, if one’s clothes or head were ablaze, to extinguish one’s blazing clothes or head one should arouse extraordinary desire, make an extraordinary effort, stir up zeal and enthusiasm, be unremitting, and exercise mindfulness and clear comprehension.”

“Bhikkhus, one might look on equanimously at one’s blazing clothes or head, paying no attention to them, but so long as one has not made the breakthrough to the Four Noble Truths as they really are, in order to make the breakthrough one should arouse extraordinary desire, make an extraordinary effort, stir up zeal and enthusiasm, be unremitting, and exercise mindfulness and clear comprehension. What four? The noble truth of suffering … the noble truth of the way leading to the cessation of suffering.

“Therefore, bhikkhus, an exertion should be made to understand: ‘This is suffering.’… An exertion should be made to understand: ‘This is the way leading to the cessation of suffering.’”
