Trump Tariff Fallout: U.S.’ Closest Allies Japan & South Korea Woo China | Will More Follow Suit?

U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff war just triggered an unexpected alliance—China, Japan, and South Korea are joining forces. Is the U.S. pushing its closest allies straight into China’s arms? As April 2nd—Trump’s so-called ‘Liberation Day’—approaches, global markets are in freefall, and gold is hitting record highs. But who really wins and loses in this battle?

Japan and South Korea have long relied on U.S. trade, but now they’re cutting deals with China. Are America’s allies hedging their bets? What does this mean for supply chains, auto exports, and semiconductor dominance? And is Trump’s strategy backfiring, weakening U.S. influence while strengthening Beijing?

A world where Washington isn’t the center of global trade—is it happening faster than we think? On today’s episode of Grey Zone, Ananya Dutta breaks it all down.

  1. How Anti-China can this channel get? Can China be trusted in an alliance? Where did that come from when it's clear that America has shown the world it can't be trusted! When did China do that?

  2. Yes china can be trusted in an alliance. A case in point is BRICS. however the same cannot be said about India, in just the news presenter is curious about it.

  3. you should ask why the asian giants didnt bother to invite india in the first place, coz india is a spineless and weak country that will only bow to the west .how many times have modi and jaishankar crawl to US with their tails wagging

  4. It's not, "Can China be trusted in this alliance?" but, "Can Japan and South Korea be trusted in this alliance?" Both Japan and South Korea are known to be pro-US, the wind blows and they will react accordingly. This news channel is very bias in how you frame things. 🦉

  5. Dont wait until its over. US will be left with no one when this clown of a president is done with his term. All the countries will move on and will find better trading partners

  6. So we can see what would happen if China did not exist or if China is defeated, though unlikely, in future. If China is defeated in a war by US, US won't need allies and partners anymore, the US will make all countries become their slaves.

  7. The reason why these countries got into trade agreements with USA was not because they are trustworthy but because of its market. It’s the same with China now. This is about business and India is not taking fast and agile decisions in working with China.

  8. THE WORLD HAS NEVER FORGOTTEN IT, we hope that Japan remembers it. Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The aerial bombings killed between 150,000 and 246,000 people, most of whom were civilian’s😢😢😢😢😢😢
