The State of California seems to be setting the pace when it comes to economic growth. New figures show the state is now the 4th largest growing economy in the world, surpassing Japan.

    California is welcome to succeed from the United States as there are a number of struggling construction companies looking forward to the opportunity to build the wall along the eastern border of the state! California, a nice place to visit but you wouldn’t want to live there!

    Total academic nonsense. They’re basing that on GDP — spending, without identifying source of those monies. Are they from market economy jobs — or from State and local government, from U.S. military personnel and bases, from welfare. California is deep in debt for a reason.
    An independent country like Japan, Russia, etc. needs a manufacturing base, else it is dependent for its survival on other manufacturing lands. What’s manufactured anymore in CA?
    Also, what would it cost California for its own military based defense.l if it wasn’t a State. That would bankrupt an independent CA.
    How many companies doing business with the Federal Government. such as SpaceX, Northrop, etc would remain if this was an independent country like Japan . How about the Eastern agricultural area — really believe they would stay with left wing Democrat overtaxed, debt ridden California as an independent country?

    Bigger than Japan? That is hard to believe since big companies are getting out of Cal and they were moving to Texas. I want an investigation it was being manipulated, especially by Newsom.

    California is doing very well. The state should reduce it's reliance on the federal government. Are the tariff's slowing California's economy? No. There is a strong presence in international trade. The entertainment and technology industries will continue to grow. New Deal style affordable housing is not the answer here. Economic growth is.

    And yet it has the 4th highest tax burden in the nation and education K-12 ranks around 40th in the nation. California's economy just surpassed Japan and yet Japan is a healthier, cleaner and safe place to live.

    How can California be the 4th largest economy in the world? When we were the 5th largest economy, California was a net energy exporter. Now California is net energy importer. Furthermore, all of the big corporations, and all of the small businesses that can afford to leave our state are leaving. 4th largest economy, what a joke. I'd be surprised if California is still in the top 10.

    Without government subsidies Cali couldn’t even stay afloat. The only state to lead in homelessness and have their own poop patrols 😂 4th largest 😂

    Most republican states are retirement states, gigantic and wide open and prone to natural disasters multiple times a year, tornado hurricane etc… hence lower gdp. Need for welfare etc. I've spent time in quite a few counties that are retirement areas, no new business pop up, its usually Wal mart or chain restaurants. The retired usually have money. So you're just hurting poor people. If you take funding away. California's stable weather is the only reason ca has a higher gdp.
