Japanese Carmaker’s Secret Weapon
Throughout rural Japan, home businesses churn out electrical harnesses and other automotive components. How do they stay competitive? They have the most unusual employees…
A shipment has just arrived. Of parts. Car parts.
This rural Japanese housewife runs a small family business making Nissan electrical harnesses. She recruits local housewives, who come in only when she needs them, and work for about $35 a day. They say they do it to get out of the house – they like the relaxed environment and the chance to be with their friends.
It’s these small suppliers that have helped to make Japan’s big corporations so successful – with their highly skilled, extremely flexible workforce, willing to work for bargain basement prices.
And in the process, They’ve pulled Japan out of post-war economic ruin and turned it into a world class economy.

I doubt a group of aunties is the reason behind it. Its more likely zaibatsu monopolies exertion of soft power through media and changing the view of japan from war mongering imperial zealots to polite kawaii anime and sushi. That and american trade deals and sweeping war crimes under the table. Its all a very intentional effort on japans part to change their image. When america forced open the borders and japan wanted to join the rest of the big boys europe snubbed them, so they tried to prove they were capable of the same things western nations were and did what the west did to them to the rest of asia, and after fighting america instead of respect they got treated like none of the issues they caused or power they showed mattered as america said "yeah thats cool and all you can be like us and we'll trade with you just dont be communist" and ignored them for a decade or so while dealing with china and russia. Treated like a small fish in a big pond they decided to take a page from americas playbook and sell their culture to get power instead, with america bringing coca cola hollywood and rock and roll winning the hearts and minds of the people allowing them to do horrible things but still be "the good guy". So japan does basically slave labor and spits out propaganda through state funded anime changing the view of japans imperialism but because the stuff they make is so high quality the world doesnt care. Theyve had a single party system for longer than chinas current government has been around, the only reason thats ok is because they work towards america and the EUs trade agreements and allow military bases to be stationed there.
Now we know why Nissan cars all have electrical issues
"willing to work for bargain basement prices" AND no reliable work hours….who wouldn't want to work for near nothing just "to visit with friends in a relaxed environment" the real sad thing is that you make it sound like like this is a GOOD THING!
Now it all makes sense 😂
I love learning how many times women have to come in and pick up the slack while men create war.
I’ve always loved the Japanese people. Hard-working, industrious, I’m willing to do whatever it takes to help their country. There are people like that here in the United States. But they’re not the majority – they’re the exception.
What qualifies as bargain basement prices?
