Japan is Changing | Why I Keep Saying Travel to JAPAN ASAP | Travel Update 2024
I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately from viewers about whether they should visit Japan now or wait a little longer. There are many reasons behind these questions. Some are concerned about overtourism and crowded tourist spots, others are worried about the summer heat, the possibility of earthquakes, or the rising cost of travel due to the yen getting stronger.
However, as I’ve mentioned in my previous video, I always say, ‘If you want to come to Japan, come as soon as possible.’ But I haven’t fully explained why I feel this way.
In this video, I’ll share my thoughts based on 9 key risks that might impact your trip. By watching this video, you will not only understand why you should visit Japan soon, but you will also be able to have a fun and comfortable trip to Japan.
So, stick around and watch until the end!

Japan has greatly changed from the 80s when I last visited on a working visa. Over tourism is huge now there compared to back then. Not sure if I'd want to go there now. The rural areas are the best imho. Japan is the safest country to travel to. When I went the Emperor Hirohito passed and the entire Japan shutdown to honor his passing. I will always love and respect Japan highly. If I decide to go it will have to be next month or November. I'd go just to eat everywhere. Arigato gozaimasu!
My wife and I went in April, July and December of last year and again this past July to take advantage of the low airfare and strong USD.
So where to visits for the first time travelers to Japan around ten days if you have any suggestion sir?
This video is dumb sensationalism. Nothing in this video is a good reasons and most is just fearmongering. Relatively to most of the world, Japan will remain one of the best destinations for many decades.
The disappearance of Ryokans has a lot to do with the cost. YouTubers from Japan regularly promote these places; the issue is the cost per night which literally prices an inn off the market.
A shortage of fish may have a lot to do with overfishing and a lack of centralised catch management to protect all species. To save the fish, don't catch or eat undersize.
It's not affordable or accessible now for a lot of people to visit Japan. Only the US is benefitted. Travellers from other countries are taking longer to raise funds to keep in step with all the price rises (inside and outside Japan) some of them well over 100%.
We'll be arriving in Osaka on Tuesday. I think that will be soon enough. 😅
Thank you Toshi ☺️
I'll be there tomorrow.
Nice and informative video as always.. but I feel that deteriorating security should not be an issue at least for the time being… I have been following news and reading a lot about Japan in the last years and the problem with fake monks and "strange bars" were mentioned in travel diaries (not just in the net, but also in books written more than 10 years ago)…. Surely it could be a problem, but I don't think it could affect tourists who pay the "right" attention to their surroundings…
Thank you for making these videos Toshi!
Toshi!!!!!!! See you in June 2025!!!! 🍺🍺🍺🍺
Video muy interesante e informativo (como siempre en este canal❤)
Yo al fin ire este Octubre❤❤❤
Great video!
Pretty interesting.
About "Over-tourism" according to Japanese tourism 80% of tourists in Japan are Japanese themselves due to the value of the yen. The Japanese passport is also one of the strongest in the world because the % of Japanese owning passports is one of lowest in the world compare to other countries. With the Japanese passport you can go to more countries without visas than other passports and the risk of the Japanese becoming illegal aliens are very extremely low. Also very few Japanese speak English or other languages which means they have little or moderate interest outside of Japan. The other strong passport is the Singaporean.
Thanks for the advice, Toshi 👍
What about Kaiju attack – you didn't mention this….?
9500 million is 9.5 billion.
I’ll be landing in Japan this coming week! Can’t wait to see what Japan has to offer
Luckily, I am glad that my mom, my friend and I will visit to Japan this Nov 2024.
The world is changing globally including economic but the worst is the climate change because this may not be able to fix by human capabilities as majority of humans are still not aware of our actions which are affecting the climate change. So let's enjoy ourselves as much as possible. I feel so sad for the young generation for their future which they will face more challenges.
Thank you for your insights and updates as usual.
Mr. Toshi, thank you for your videos and advises. Our family are preparing everything to travel next year to see your amazing country. We would like to travel now but first we need to save enough money, then next year is our closest option. We wait that the things doesn't change to much until then, but even if that happens we will go, because is our golden dream. We are been waiting for this opportunity for more that 15 years. Thank you for you helpful videos.
I will be there next week to attend the Tokyo Game Show in Makuhari Messe
and these things happening are also happening worldwide but Japan is handeling it much better.
Thanks for the info. Toshi-san! Do you plan to go to Tokyo Game Show yourself? 😁
Hearing tourists complaining about overtourism is always funny. It's like a traffic jam. You are not stuck in traffic. You ARE the traffic.
My American Husband booked our Japan Trip on December 16-21,2024.
We're so excited because this will be our 1st time to travel abroad together. But as a Philippine passport holder, I will apply for Japanese TOURIST Visa this week and the result will be next week, end of September 2024..🙏😢❤🙏hoping to get approve… 🙏
They want tourists to travel more inside Japan to ease the top cities overtourism, but JR Pass nearly doubled the prices 😢
Hopefully nothing gets worse so quick. Im planning to visit japan in november of next year for my birthday
It is becoming very expensive
