Very reasonable choices of prominent figures who who have really contributed to the development of Japan. The worst choice would be to put there the emperors of Japan I think.
Wow, when I saw this video, I was just SO surprised!!! I mean any country changing the people on currency is just so rare!!
It is really incredible and admirable though thay they're acknowledging individuals' contributions to society. It's easier to take pride in your country when the people on money represent practical achievements rather than politics. ❤
Most countries put important people on their bills, then you have Brazil who puts a bunch of local animal species
1 real is a hummingbird 2 reais is a sea turtle 5 reais is a great white heron 10 reais is a great red macaw 20 reais is a golden lion tamarin 50 reais is a jaguar 100 reais is a grouper
They are all in shades of pink, blue and gold for some reason
I find quite curious to see that a female is on the 5k bill both in Japan and Chile. In the case of new Japanese 5k bill is Tsuda Umeko and in the case of the Chilean 5k bill is Gabriela Mistral
A while back, the Mexican bank also changed their bills, causing some people to mistake the $500 MXN bill for a $20 MXN one by just changing the face of one president
Two of Mr Kitasato’s pupils (Goto Shinpei and Takagi Tomoe) were very influential here in Taiwan during Japanese rule.
Mr Goto is often credited with the modernization of Taiwan (water mains, sewage, law system, police system…)
Mr Takagi was the principal of Taiwan‘s first medical school and later the chairman of Taiwan‘s first electricity company. Both institutions are still in operation to this day. (National Taiwan University College of Medicine & Taiwan Power Company)

Your outfit ! ❤
So the "father of Japanese capitalism" guy sounds like Japanese Rockefeller. Crazy rich, modernized the economy, philanthropist
Anyone else gets that inflation taste when hearing that? ^^
but do any of them smell like maple syrup?

What about the millions of vending machines in Japan? Will they accept the new notes or do all of them need modification now?

I love the Hokusai (🌊) on the back of the 1000.
Hey I recognize the ¥1,000 and ¥10,000 bills!! Wish I kept at least 1 when I went
Nice kimono and hakama ❤😮 wish I could wear hakama
I am collecting these, if anyone has duplicates they don't need you're free to give them to me!

Im guessing the ¥2000 bill didn't change🤔🤣
kinda boring
Yknow, I like the idea of putting people on money who contributed to the country by a means other than simply becoming the leader :/
Very reminiscent of the 1905 World's Fair, where Japan made its big debut.
(I live in Portland, so…)
I wish USD had a banknote that featured a woman. Best we got are dollar coins with Susan B. Anthony, Sacagewea, and Lady Liberty's likenesses.
they will have change the emojis too
wow 😮 japan is really changed its bills after for a long time
I didn’t know you were a Shogun. 👍
if I can collect old and new Yen banknotes, im cool
Really cool to see people who deserve it being put on bills

Am I the only one who prefers the design of the old banknotes?
Meanwhile in america, we still have the man behind the trail of tears on our money
Westernisation of Japan continues. A colony of the US
I love your kimono with the katana ! You look badass with it !
