  1. Wow, when I saw this video, I was just SO surprised!!!
I mean any country changing the people on currency is just so rare!!

It is really incredible and admirable though thay they're acknowledging individuals' contributions to society. It's easier to take pride in your country when the people on money represent practical achievements rather than politics. ❤

  2. Most countries put important people on their bills, then you have Brazil who puts a bunch of local animal species

    1 real is a hummingbird
2 reais is a sea turtle
5 reais is a great white heron
10 reais is a great red macaw
20 reais is a golden lion tamarin
    50 reais is a jaguar
    100 reais is a grouper

They are all in shades of pink, blue and gold for some reason

  3. I find quite curious to see that a female is on the 5k bill both in Japan and Chile. In the case of new Japanese 5k bill is Tsuda Umeko and in the case of the Chilean 5k bill is Gabriela Mistral

  4. A while back, the Mexican bank also changed their bills, causing some people to mistake the $500 MXN bill for a $20 MXN one by just changing the face of one president

  5. Yknow, I like the idea of putting people on money who contributed to the country by a means other than simply becoming the leader :/

  6. Two of Mr Kitasato’s pupils (Goto Shinpei and Takagi Tomoe) were very influential here in Taiwan during Japanese rule.

Mr Goto is often credited with the modernization of Taiwan (water mains, sewage, law system, police system…)

Mr Takagi was the principal of Taiwan‘s first medical school and later the chairman of Taiwan‘s first electricity company. Both institutions are still in operation to this day. (National Taiwan University College of Medicine & Taiwan Power Company)
