After years of deflation, Japan’s economy is looking surprisingly normal once again as inflation and interest rates are climbing. So in this video, we’ll explain how this happened, whether it can last and how Trump could throw a spanner in the works.

great segue into the Ad break. So smooth
Kishida will be the last prime minister to defy populism. He did not care about approval ratings and concentrated only on overcoming deflation and economic growth. Many people's lives have suffered because of him, but it was still a worthwhile step forward.
Japan is also focussing more on attracting foreign students , which they always apathetic about .
I believe you've never lived in Japan, but the cost of living in the U.S. is actually worse than in Japan—especially when it comes to rent and medical care. This is a major reason why homelessness is more prevalent in America compared to Japan. And when you compare the U.S. to Canada, the rental situation in America is just as bad, if not worse. 😢
And now China is suffering from a balance sheet recession. They said they had studied the Japanese economy in the 90s and would not make the same mistake, but what exactly did they learn?
Are you serious? I have lived in Japan for 20 years and this is one of the worst economic periods I ever experienced here.
Food prices are getting high; some foods we used to buy frequently are now impossible! Even local foods. Oh man, salaries have been the same since 2014! really! The only people with money are those who work in the tourism industry and can rely on dollars from outside. As you can read in other comments, it's impossible for us to buy a new computer or an iPhone, traveling outside the country is just a dream and many Japanese companies aren't innovating anymore. The worst of all the car industry is in a huge crisis as Chinese cars are entering the market and they will replace very soon Japan as a global car manufacturer in the world. Electronics, when was the last time you bought Sony over Apple or Samsung? No kids, no agriculture! The youngest people producing food in Japan are 50-60, and the majority are in their 70s, which means we will run out of people producing food in this country very soon.
I think we should all have realise by now that GDP is actually a poor unit of measuring the economy.
In America, Biden and Harris is saying the economy is doing well as they point out to GDP but we all know the economy was doing bad despite how high the GDP growth is.
GDP is a measurement of spending in a country, nothing more and nothing less, spending does not depict how well the economy is
This channel talks only about graphs and shit meanwhile real life is total crisis. No wages increased at all in general. Grocery prices increased around 40%.
Meanwhile the economical life under consumers is dead since the 90s
In light of the ongoing global economic crisis, it is crucial for everyone to prioritize investing in diverse sources of income that are not reliant on the government. This includes exploring opportunities in stocks, gold, silver, and digital currencies. Despite the challenging economic situation, it remains a favorable time to consider these investments.
better but not good
Normal? Most people can barely afford to feed their kids or have a non-crap place to live. I’ve been living here since the early 2000’s and this is the worst this country has ever been. People are freaking out because they literally have to go into debt to survive.
Problem is devloped countries is … Rich are getting richer …
Middle class stuck
Poor are getting more poorer..
Unless money flows from rich to middle class according to 50% of rate of growth it will cause problem
living in japan, i love that japan doers not have inflation. i can live in the city center of tokyo on a normal wage. Lets see you try that in New York. only an educated imbecil with a worthless economics degree wants a central banking system with eternal growh and eternal inflation
i think that TLDR perfected the art of making a long video while providing zero insight.
They finally brought inflation, up but incomes have halved in dollar terms since the 90s.
Quality of life is way down for us living in Japan.
I don't like shaving because it's such a chore
Now Japanese are complaining about the rising price of rice (1.5x or 2x from last year), temporary tax charged gasoline(since 1971!!!), rising welfare tax due to increasing babies and supporting elder. Japanese can't endure even 3% inflation because they had lived in deflation economy for 30 years. They are holding rare demonstrations in front of ministry of finance. Why don't I participate it?
i always love that sentiment because since japan enjoyed one of the highest if not the actual highest standard of living and social security in the world "economists" told japan to print poor people and make the rich even richer which japan simply did not do
there is a great video on yt detailing how japan is shifting its monetary policy and in effect the comments sumarize it very well…. everything is getting more expensive and you are supposed to be happy about it lol
what a title
Japan is still having problems. The problem is the Japanese government.
Being self sufficient is amazing ❤ if only the UK and Europe could do the same. Not to mention a great culture, barley any crime, and healthier & longer living people.
I'm living in japan, but the fact about that problem is occured by Ishiba prime minister, is a bit of wrong. In correct, japan and korea have were invaded by china from inside, and to unify their country into china. china want to decrease the value of yen and korean doller. if you want to confirm that's evidence, then it's better to check some demonstration in korean and japan.
