Nissan has taken a major step forward in autonomous driving by successfully testing a self-driving vehicle on public roads in Japan. The advanced Nissan Serena test vehicle features 14 cameras, 9 radars, and 6 LiDAR sensors, combined with artificial intelligence for real-time decision-making. This breakthrough technology could change the way we experience transportation, solving driver shortages and improving mobility.
Nissan plans to roll out service tests with 20 autonomous vehicles in 2025 and 2026, with a full launch expected by 2027. The project is supported by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and other key organizations.
